Core Working Principle of CO₂ Laser Cutting and Engraving Machine
CO₂ lasers generate infrared laser light with a wavelength of 10.6μm (belonging to the mid-infrared band) by electrically exciting a CO₂ gas mixture (usually containing CO₂, N₂, He, etc.). This wavelength of laser has a very high absorption rate for non-metallic materials (such as wood, acrylic, fabric, etc.). When irradiated onto the material surface, the energy is rapidly absorbed and converted into heat, causing the material to locally melt, vaporize, or burn instantly. Combined with the movement trajectory of the laser head (controlled by a CNC system), it achieves cutting (separating materials) or engraving (surface removal or marking) effects.
